  • Simply Chrissy: What inspired you to start making skincare products?

Sheila Tan: Growing up, I have personally suffered from severe acne. But it really made me more interested when I was finding a solution for my baby in 2002 who was suffering from eczema. From that time on, I was looking for the ingredients that will help alleviate that skin irritation.

  • Simply Chrissy: Why did you decide to go the natural route with your product ingredients?

Sheila Tan: What a better way to start making stuff with something that is available in your kitchen. I then, learned that there are so many ingredients that you can actually use for your skin. It then opened my eyes that going natural is not only good for you but also, maximizing the potential of the nature.

Dry patch

  • Simply Chrissy: Dry Patch (eczema skin cream) is one of your most popular products. Which other products would you recommend to help people who have eczema?

Sheila Tan: As we all know, there is no cure for eczema. They do come and go as they please. However, keeping the skin moisturized at all times makes it more controllable. We have a variety of ointments in-store such as Calendula Ointment. I also created a Super Dry Patch which is gluten-free and adheres more moisture. I noticed that having eczema and, in some cases, everyone has different levels of dryness. This cream as it says; Super Dry Patch provides that extra level of moisture.

  • Simply Chrissy: What are your favorite ingredients to work with and why?

Sheila Tan: I love everything natural. I do not have a specific favorite as I was like a kid in a candy store when I see extracts or herbs. I would say I most excited about the herbs and infusing them myself. The benefits are endless.

  • Simply Chrissy: For anybody unfamiliar with your products, what are the top 3 products you would recommend people try?

Sheila Tan: Dry Patch/Super Dry Patch – Will keep your skin moisturized all day long.

Combination Face Oil/Hemp – This oil is a great moisturizer and does not clog pores.

Orchid Salve – A great travel companion. Could be used for face, hands or just anywhere. I travel a lot and I love products that has multi-use.

  • Simply Chrissy: What is your favorite part of creating a new product?

Sheila Tan: My favorite part is when I hear people come back for more and tells me story how much they love the product. To me, that is the definition of success. When you can actually make a difference in someone else’s life.

  • Simply Chrissy: What are your top 3 skincare tips?

Sheila Tan: A good cleansing and exfoliating habit is a must. I could never understand when I was younger the benefits of that extra step of toning, but now I do. It removes excess dirt, exfoliates your skin and adding that extra benefit makes a difference in your regime. Not only you use less moisturizer of face oil, but it makes your skin more even-looking. And the lastly; applying your protection. SPF’ing your skin, preventing it from sun-damage will keep your skin younger looking. Adding that extra benefits from serums at night also helps slow down the ageing process.

  • Simply Chrissy: Do you have any events or giveaways coming up, or any new products to announce?

Sheila Tan: We are organizing the schedule of workshops coming this spring. (**Please note: Workshops may have been impacted by Covid-19**)

  • Simply Chrissy: Which one of your products would you recommend for people with the following skin types: Dry, oily and combination skin?

Sheila Tan: This is a huge topic. All I can say is that go with simple ingredients. We must avoid olive oil or coconut oil if you have oily skin. Avocado is great for super dry/dehydrated skin. Argan Oil, Chia Seed, Camelia Oil are light oil for all skin types. Hemp is wonderful for combination skin. All these ingredients are in our skin care. Come visit us sometime. Your visit will be not just be a visit. We promise a whole experience when you come see us.
