I started drinking coconut water pretty regularly last year, I think approximately around February or March 2016. I switched to coconut water as a healthier alternative to fruit juice. Although, before I’d pick the ‘heathier’ fruit juices to drink (**apple juice was my FAVOURITE 🍎🍏😍😍 because it’s simple and the best brands usually have just like 3 ingredients, or so**) with minimal ingredients, still juice is processed. Therefore it’s actual contribution to your health isn’t phenomenal.
There’s many coconut water brands out there, some are just gross tasting to be legit with you. I’d had coconut water once in a blue moon growing up (Caribbean tingz 😄 😄🌴🌴), and tasted many I didn’t like. So, I was never turned on by it. Last year, I REALLY got into coconut water because of health/diet refinements I’ve had to gradually implement in phases especially over the last 8 years. Due to coconut water becoming a staple in my diet, I have found my top 3 favourite brands that I alternate between. They taste great and I really enjoy them (Although, nothing will ever beat drinking the water straight from a fresh young coconut in Jamaica! 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲 **insert Reggae horn sound here**). Anyway, they are:
#1: Taste Nirvana (I get the one WITH pulp because I like chewing on the coconut pieces);
#2: Vita Coco (I like the plain one, the one with pineapple is tasty too with minimal ingredients.);
#3: ONE (I prefer the plain one).
Some benefits of coconut water include: High in potassium, low in calories, fat free, cholesterol free, high in electrolytes (nature’s Gatorade 😉).
